What we install
Ohme ePod and Ohme Home Pro (tethered and untethered) for tariff-optimised charging. Myenergi Zappi 2.1 for solar-diverted charging when you have PV. Andersen A2 for the customer who wants a hidden cable and a design object bolted to the villa. EO Mini Pro 3 for the tighter driveway. Rolec Wallpod for the compliance-only landlord install. All Mode 3 Type 2, all 7.4kW single-phase (32A). Three-phase 22kW available if UKPN can support it on your street and your property has a three-phase supply.
Price bands (charger plus install, fully inclusive)
Ohme ePod, standard 5m tethered install, cable run under 5m from consumer unit to bay: £799 to £899.
Zappi 2.1 (solar-diverting), 7m cable run through wall and along external duct: £1,150 to £1,350.
Victorian terrace with consumer unit under stairs and cable-pull to on-street bay or side-passage driveway (typical Ramsgate West Cliff or St Lawrence job): £1,200 to £1,700 depending on route.
Andersen A2 (hidden-cable design install): from £1,650.
Three-phase 22kW upgrade with UKPN supply-modification: quoted on survey. Expect £3,000+ plus UKPN charges.
The DNO piece
Every home EV charger install has to be notified to your Distribution Network Operator. In Ramsgate that's UK Power Networks Southern. For a single 7.4kW charger on a healthy 100A cutout, notification is under Engineering Recommendation G98 - post-install notification only, so we install and file within 28 days. For 22kW three-phase or where the incoming supply is 60A or 80A and needs uprating, that becomes a G99 pre-install application and UKPN sit-down time is currently 6-14 weeks. We handle the paperwork either way; there's no separate cost from us for filing.
OZEV grant, honestly
The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant for homeowners with driveways closed to new applications in April 2022. If that's you, it's gone. What still exists: OZEV grant for renters (still up to £350 off the install), OZEV grant for flat owners with dedicated parking (up to £350), and the EV Chargepoint Grant for landlords providing chargepoints for tenants (up to £350 per socket, up to 200 sockets a year). We check eligibility at quote and apply on your behalf - no eligibility, no application, no false promises.
Ramsgate cable-route reality
The single biggest variable in a Ramsgate EV install price is the cable route. A Cliffsend or Newington estate house with an integral garage or side-return driveway is a 30-minute cable pull. A West Cliff Victorian terrace with the consumer unit under the front stairs, no side access, and a rear-parking bay 15m round the back via a chimney breast is a half-day of surveying and a full day of installation. We do a site visit or a WhatsApp video walk-through before we quote, and the price we send is the price you pay.
Testing, commissioning and app pairing
Every install ends with an earth loop impedance test at the charger, RCD/RDC-DD test, insulation resistance test, Type 2 socket polarity, and full charge commissioning with your car. If you want the app paired to your charger, we do it on the day - Ohme, Zappi, EO, Andersen. Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P compliance in the post within 30 days.
